Bank access & security

Read-only bank access (no transfers)

When you connect a bank account in Cleero, the connection is set up as read-only. This means Cleero can view and sync the information it needs, but it can’t move money.

What Cleero can do

  • Read and sync account information needed to match incoming bank payments to orders (for example, amounts, dates, and payment references/notes).

  • Keep your data up to date so payment matching stays accurate as new transactions arrive.

What Cleero cannot do

  • Initiate bank transfers or send money.

  • Request payments from your bank account.

  • Make changes to your bank account (such as editing account settings or beneficiaries).

Cleero’s bank connection is designed for payment matching: it helps you match incoming payments to orders—without giving Cleero the ability to execute payments.

Encryption & storage (what we keep)

Cleero is built to minimize the sensitive data it stores. We only keep what’s necessary to provide the product features.

  • Encryption: Data is protected where appropriate through encryption (for example, during transmission and/or at rest).

  • Data minimization: We only store what is necessary to operate Cleero’s features.

  • No bank login credentials: Cleero does not require or store your online banking username/password as part of the bank connection process.

  • No unencrypted bank data: We avoid storing unencrypted bank data.
